They do have a paid fire department however like most places in OR they require a paramedic certification. Not sure where you stand on that. Bend is a pretty awesome place though.

It is a great place to be that is true... now the hunting isn't what it use to be as there are more recreational opportunities in some prime hunting spots near town.

If they accepted international applicants i'd apply for sure, former LEO here i Oz and miss it, just wouldn't do it here again.

I wouldn't have a problem getting my paramedic at all if needed. I however have 18 years on my current dept. it would be kind of silly to move on now. I may need to file that away for after retirement.
Out of curiosity I searched the FD. I saw it was 5 stations if I remember correctly plus tge rural district which I think said it was volunteer. It would be a bit of an adjustment coming from a dept with 42 stations.

What is the lateral pay like? Do you start at the bottom, or bump up to equivalent once off probation? Might have to look into this....

Rotating shifts would be awesome...im so tired of swings, and mids for a year will make you hate life fo' realz.

Are they hiring off the street with no academy or LE experience?

There are two processes. New hire with no experience and then academy would be required and a lateral process. In state lateral no refresher needed and out of state lateral needs a two week Oregon class.
