Any locals have any insight on this fire? I am following the fire on INCIWEB and am aware of the closures in the forest areas and affect upon the impacted units. In your experience, how long into fall do fires this size burn on average? I know a lot goes into it, fuel, temp, wind, precipitation, etc. Does the fire service typically let the fires naturally run their course in uninhabited forest areas and spread at will or do they contain? I know they protect assets but the fire is good for the Pine beetle areas.

Currently there are two fires burning in Wyoming Unit 81 deer. The Forest Service has closed access to a very large portion of the unit for safety and fire accommodation. As non residents, we are running out of accessible areas. Will the fire likely spread throughout the closed area or is there a good chance much of the forest will be reopened?

Wyoming Game and Fish has offered to voluntarily rain check tags until next year and I am just weighing my options.

Honestly that is a good question. I will say it is more of a concern for how long it may take the animals to move back in.

As it is today, only a small portion of Wyoming is on fire. The closed buffer is expansive though. I see little impact on the animals other than migratory routs out of CO.

It should be gorgeous in a year or three.
