I know everyone gets all fired up about POW, but I just wanna hip those considering hunting up here. Plenty of shooter bears on Revilla and Gravina islands, and less pressure, less logistics… think about it

Out of staters can hunt black bear unguided and with OTC tags, right? The other big game animals require non-residents to hire guides, correct? Thanks for the heads up on areas to go. Are you hunting them by spot and stalking from a boat?

in most of the southeast, non resident needs to have a guide or draw to hunt to go unguided. Used to be different. But too many non resident hunters can’t tell the difference between a boat or sow, shoot sows with cubs or shoot small immature bears. Personally, I’m glad. I’ve personally seen too many small bears and sows killed.

I know everyone gets hopped up over the damn boats, but it’s probably the least productive way to hunt big bears.

How do you do it in SE Alaska? My only experience bear hunting is driving to then hiking logging roads and glassing cuts in BC.
