Beard oil definitely helps. I use a beard balm from Duke Cannon and find that’s the best all around stuff for skin and beard.

I have to keep oil on my skin beneath my beard or I leave a trail of skin flakes behind me lol. My skin gets pretty dry especially during the winter if I don’t keep some sort of oil on it.

After a couple nights in the backcountry, I find my beard scratchy and quite annoying when I’m trying to sleep. I don’t have this issue when I’m at home showering everyday.

Will applying beard oil keep my beard from annoying me?

The real question is, "Will beard oil keep from annoying the rest of us?"

The responses were as expected, mostly helpful, a few attempts at insult and lots of comedy.

I've used beard oil one time, the lady barber put it on after a trim. I couldn't stand the stuff and didn't notice a difference other than the smell.
I think I'll just continue to go without and put up with the irritation, and possibly dip it in the Jet Boil a couple times throughout the week.

The right beard oil smells great, and keeps the hairs softer.
You're significant other will thank you.
