My son and I took a 10 day trapping trip to Western Maine for his 18th birthday. We were able to lease baits and a cabin from Langtown Outfitters and Guide Service and he was gracious enough to give us use of his Polaris Ranger as well.
For equipment, we were using the Crit-R-Done leg snare delivery system, engineered by my friend Wes Osborne.
It was warm and dry conditions, which had the bears moving at night. Tough for hunters, but perfect for us.
I connected on a little 120 lb boar the second night, which I elected to keep.
My son had a few near misses, but finally got one held a 177 lb boar on the last morning. We were in a rush and somehow didn’t get one decent pic of his bear in the trap.
If you’re looking for something different and exciting, I highly recommend doing a bear trapping trip.
