Bear Tooth Wear and Aging

How old do you think this bear is?

Info:
- sow
- live weight was probably around 100lbs
- died in April 2024
- Montana FWP took a tooth, maybe 2 but did not post data or respond to an email requesting to check if the info was available

Interesting one. Live weight estimate and lack of canine wear would make me think 5 at the oldest but she sure had a gray muzzle. I’m certainly no bear aging expert though.

What Region? Some of the regions use MRRE numbers which I think you should have been provided with? I can try and look it up next week when I’m back at the lab. Some of the Regions assign arbitrary numbers which you won’t have so I won’t be able to look it up then.

The scientist that took the tooth didn't give me a reference #.

A hunter with my group also got a bear that day and the tooth data has not posted to his FWP account either.
