Finally found success with my first bear after several years. It’s a small chocolate boar that I took 7 miles deep in the wilderness and I couldn’t be more excited. I’m trying to find a good place to get a rug done, and so far I’ve only been able to get one taxidermist to answer the phone. Can anyone recommend a taxidermist between Santa Rosa and San Luis Obispo that does good work on bear rugs? I’m willing to drive a few hours to get it done right. I’m in the Monterey Bay Area.

I am also in Monterey county. I know its the wrong direction for you but he did a 3/4 bear mount for me and is currently working on 7 other pieces for me. He is near Redding Check out Booner Taxidermy https://share.google/bohyjLAtun4ROexAu

I have tried to find other taxidermists closer and they either 1. also don't answer my calls or I don't like their work. So I send all my stuff to him

Thanks for the reply! I killed the bear up by Redding, wish I had known this sooner, I could have dropped it off on the way home. I’ll check him out.

Debone the paws, turn and split ears/eyes/lips/nose, flesh and salt the hide, and then ship it to the midwest to get rugged.
