Well here's my 2 cents I carry both and depending on the situation will probably determine what gets used first. I also am a father of children who love to get outside with me and enjoy hunting. I am not afraid of bears and have been charged by bears and defended myself and those with me. Anybody who will tell me I'm less of a man for training with and carrying a handgun is a fool. You can't control all of the variable in any situation involving wildlife but you can damn sure minimize the damage. I have no intention to stop hunting in bear country and I will tell you I was born and raised there and belong there more than most. There are pros and cons to any decision you make on this matter, be flexible and stop telling everyone else they are wrong or not worthy of enjoying the outdoors because their opinion isn't the same as yours. I will continue to do me and enjoy the mountains and wild bear country with my family.
