YNP in June (stupid questions)

This was in Mammoth.

Nice bull.
What year was this taken?

I've seen people carrying in YNP, hasn't seemed to be an issue. I believe places like visitor centers are more blatant about not allowing guns, while the rest of the park is kind of silent on the issue.

Side note, I carry both a 10mm and bear spray. I was charged last year and pulled the spray first, it was incredibly effective. I'm definitely a believer. I only carry spray in the park. I wouldn't want to be the subject of an investigation where a gun was pulled first in YNP.

I've never open carried in a NP, but seen lots of people doing it.

No one cares.
I rarely visit YNP but have never seen anyone open carry.
From seeing the reaction of Chinese visitors at our local gas station/gun/beer
shop I just expect a bus load of them would be a real cluster****

I'd hope people would be more accepting of it. Your experience gives hope. (y)

I've been a handful of times, seen multiple people every time.

Some in Teton, and lots in Glacier.

Busloads of tourists are always some variety of train wreck for sure!

This is the .44 magnum I carried while hiking and fishing in the backcountry areas of Grand Teton and Yellowstone NP last summer.

I did not carry in the crowded developed front country areas, there are so many thousands of people thronging around the main attractions like Old Faithful there is no real chance of wild animal attacking you in particular in the middle of a crowd of people.

But for the remote areas I think it makes a lot of sense.

And at least last summer they had all these warning signs about bear attacks along the trails, so its like they are at least indirectly encouraging people to carry in the backcountry whether they mean to or not.
