You are supposed to spray and then step out of the way. So that this doesn't happen. At least that is what I heard with reference to this attack.

No. From what I was told don't just stand there like that guy did. Spray and move so hopefully a blind bear doesn't get you with its momentum.

That's good advice to dodge the furry freight train.

IMO, a gun and spray are good for different type of bear threats. If the bear's hot up on adrenaline and charging, I believe a shot to the CNS is warranted. But if it's a curious bear getting too close, I say teach it a good lesson to stay away from humans.
