In some states elk and mule deer are otc and some are draw only... And some are a little of both depending on the gmu... Are black bear tags the same way? What states offer tags? I'd like to do a post-hybrination rifle hunt... Maybe a float and glass type trip? Sorry, it's super easy to obtain this info on elk and deer but bear has been a lot tougher to find info on.

Oregon has limited otc spring bear tags in the sw region. Glass glass glass and you should get one.

It's been a few years since I looked but I believe Wyoming has OTC tags in some units. I believe they are on a quota system though and you have to check in everyday or whatever to see if the season has been closed.

I think almost every western state has OTC opportunities.. The only ones I know of that don't are NV, CO rifle, AZ Spring, & UT?

You're right, for some reason Bears are alot tougher to find info on..

Oregon has limited OTC tags (4,400 in 2015) for Spring bear in the SW unit. The rest of the state is a draw for Spring bear, but most units are fairly easy to draw with no points. Fall bear is general OTC for pretty much the entire state. No baiting or hounds in Oregon.

Where ya located? OTC BB hunts are pretty easy to find and you probably don't have to travel far. Some OTC tags are hard to fill cuz the bears are very skittish (like in OR) whereas other areas they don't get as much pressure and are easier to locate and kill. It's more fun with a bow though. As for Calif...the further north you go...the more bears you'll see.

The state I'm really interested in hunting is Colorado. Is there only fall co black bear tags?
