The takeaway is that every single one of these is a lithium pack, a plastic case, and a short pair of jumper cables that plugs into it. It probably doesn't matter which you get. Lithium ion cells can push massive amps, period. They're perfect for the task, no matter what brand wraps plastic around them. It's like reading reviews of 21-degree framing nails. A 0.131" nail from vendor A is going to work the same as from vendor B.

That has not been my experience. I’ve had multiple of the el cheapo Amazon brands (Nexpow and Imazing) fail to start diesel engines and destroy themselves in the process. They worked fine when I used them on gas engines, but they failed to start a 5.9L Cummins and an old Case track loader and wouldn’t recharge or show any signs of life thereafter. I’m usually a cheapskate, but I’ll be ponying up for a name brand for my next jump starter.

Perhaps I just got lucky. I have a 6.7 Cummins and tested two of the brands I've tried with it. In fact I think one was actually a Nexpow. But it's still totally fair to say that amperage rating is really important, and a lot depends on how discharged your battery is. If you get one <2000A, and/or your battery is really flat, you often need to leave these things on there for 10-15m before hitting the "boost" button to try to start the vehicle.

You talking smaller diesel, or 6.6L or larger, with 2 batteries?

GMC Duramax. 2 batteries etc. I've never seen this thing fail to start something on my buddies ranch/farm.

Noco GP70 rides in my boat.

For the 2500 6.7 Diesel. Get a set of jumper cable leads for a M18 8ah Milwaukee. Be cautious using the M18 on trucks with electric fly by wire power steering. They don’t like it.

I'll pay extra for quality when it's something I depend on in remote places.

I'm looking to buy a portable battery jump pack. For general use, but I do have a HD truck. I don't want air compressor, etc accessories. Any of you guys have one / model that you like; or anything that I should look for amp etc wise?

I’m considering the Milwaukee Hotshot jump starter. I put together a roadside kit with a Milwaukee M18 impact wrench with a couple M18 batteries in a pack out box that stays in the truck.

Supposedly the Milwaukee Hotshot is pretty bad a$$. I was watching a video on it the other night anf im definitely putting it on my Christmas list. I already keep 3 batteries in my truck for my impact, inflator, and chainsaw on off road trips. The starter is a no brainer.
