i have a kuiu 185 top that is about worn out. thinking of trying a first lite llano QZ lightweight. how does the llano compare in thickness to the 185? i don't want to go warmer than the 185 that's all.

I own both and would say they are similar. Kuiu is less money but first light seems a little more durable. But I don't have a lot of use on them and I take good care of my stuff so that's just my opinion so far. It comes down to camo pattern I guess.

There isn't much difference in thickness between those two shirts. One big difference I find is that the first lite merino seems to have more odor than the Kuiu merino. Specifically when wet, the first lite stuff has a much stronger wool like smell than the Kuiu. I would also say the first lite stuff seems to be more durable.

that is funny. My experiences with both shirts have the exact opposite results. My first lite is thinner and stinks way less then the new kuiu shirts (when sweaty and wet). the kuiu are more durable for me based on how thin the first lite is.

I was thinking the exact same thing. After trying a bunch I have pretty much settled on FL being the best.

I won't bit another kuiu merino, it's about the only thig I have of theirs that I don't like, it fit well when I got it after a couple washes it shrunk a bit and now is somewhat tight. My first lite is exactly like the day I got it, seems more durable as well but it is more expensive. Honestly either way you will be good.

You can't go wrong with either shirt, I think they are the same in weight and thickness. I feel that the First Lite wool is softer and feels a little better when new, after a few washes the Kuiu gets softer. Both shirt smell when they get real wet not to bad. For durability, solid color selection non-camo, and price I would give the edge to Kuiu
