I just upgraded my entire baselayer system to all merino though watching sales over the off season. Now I just found a video where the reveiwers were discussing the status of the market and where it was going. They brought up a few things I hadn't heard of and I was curious if anyone had any experience with them.

First off polygiene. Anyone used it? I hadn't heard of it, but its a sythetic that's supposed to controls odor.

Second is the Rab Meco. Its a blend of merino and cocona so that it has a superior wicking ability than merino but the same odor control supposedly.

I know there's a lot of merino fans here and I hadn't heard those two names thrown around so I was just kind of curious if anyone had any experience with either. The one reviewer said he sweats alot and has a hard time drying out merino sometimes.

I would be real interested to try that cocona merino blend just cause I know I really like the cocona fabrics that firstlite uses!

Prolite are the people that put out the video I found. They do some pretty good reviews on their youtube channel.

My base layers are relatively in-expensive SmartWool medium and light-weight (Merino wool) tops and bottoms. My light-weight SmartWool tops and bottoms are 3 years old and are still going strong. My medium weight base layers are two years old and still look new. I've worn them for up to 5 days at a time without offending myself or my hunting buddy. Merino is the only way to go for extended wear.

2ski, we like to see that you guys are paying attention. We have been testing the the super thin meco stuff for about a year now and like it for hot weather. im not sure if it dries all that much quicker but i think it might be a little more stable in the super thin weights. Also it seems to be a bit of a problem in the printing department in that there is poly woven in with the merino and they print differently. Another interesting fabric is The North Face's flash dry merino, which is cocona as well,it is a plated fabric meaning that one side is merino the other is synthetic these print more easily and might dry slightly quicker but seem to pick up odor more quickly. We are constantly testing so if you have any suggestions please dont hesitate to tell us and we will try it.
