Bartlein Carbon Barrel Ding

Definitely not normal & I highly doubt Bartlein let it leave there shop like that, they (Frank & Bartlein) are as good as it gets!

So now that its being taken care of can we ask who the smith was? Bartlien was named in the thread and stepped up to handle the issue (that may or may not have been caused by them), the smith was not named who knowingly sent this out the door (didn't tell the customer or touch it up, etc). Don't think its fair only one of the parties was publicly named.

I have 2 builds with Bartlein #4 contour CF barrels - both 7MM-08's. The 1st one which shoots fantastic has 2 small imperfections on the barrel, nothing near what is in the OP's picture just small nicks/rough spots. It made me a bit crazy at first but dang thing shoots so good I got ever it 2nd one the barrel is perfect no rough spots at all and shoots just as good.

Always had good luck with Bartlein barrels

I’ve done that to Proofs. Easy to touch up with some clear epoxy. Hasn’t effected anything for me. I’d be pissed to get one new like that though. Glad to see they took care of you.

I have a Bartlein on my 30 Nosler that has similar areas. I have bought 2 others from bug holes with comparable blemishes. Sold the two other and only had one chambered but not what I was expecting from Bartlein, it shoots but don’t care for the appearance. I just use a benchmark at this point if I need a CFW barrel, will likely try a HCA at some point.

I will say Bartlein has excellent customer service. My 7mm CFW#4 barrel had multiple chips in it. I shipped it to gunsmith without taking it out of the box so don’t rightfully know if it came from Bartlein that way. Frank said go ahead and go on your hunt, then send it back to us over the winter and we will re-wrap it. The barreled action came back to me with a smooth finish.
Very pleased with them and won’t look elsewhere for future builds.

They have always been great to work with, haven’t really considered sending it back but after y’all saying how easy it was I may do it. I’m grateful for the exceptional CS but in my situation they were in my possession before a gunsmith so it likely left in that way. It’s purely cosmetic but can easily be felt with running your hand down the exterior so it was easily detectable. I’m by no means upset, thrilled to have the options and CS.
