Barrel pricing and lead times.

I paid $410 for an ace blank and $300 for chamber and muzzle thread job at a gunsmith. He estimated a 2 week lead time and it'll be 2 weeks tomorrow. Barrel was in stock at UM

It just keeps getting crazier. I bought a lathe with the intention of doing some gunsmithing on the side. Colorado's America-hating legislature is doing their best to make that legally impossible, but I may have to keep it around just to do my own work with prices and lead times headed to the moon.

Out of curiosity, what do you mean? They won't let you get and apply for an FFL?

Crazy how that state has went to shit...sadly, it's almost like they all are headed that direction.

Barrels are around $400-450, chamber and muzzle is generally $400-450, cerakote and or fluting is always extra. Once I get a barrel to my smith, I generally have it back in 3-4 weeks tops.

1. Attempting to regulate barrels as firearms. That eliminates being able to do chop and threads or prefits without an FFL.
2. Attempting to mandate insane and unreasonable security for all FFLs.

If those two bills pass, it will basically spell the end of the home gunsmith and FFL in Colorado.

I agree that a steel barrel should be $1,000 at most with cerakote. Not $1,300. Many are around $800.
