Question for those of you that don't clean your barrels. Do you run a patch of oil down the barrel at the end of hunting season if you know you won't be shooting your rifles for a few months? Thank You!

In AZ desert, nothing rusts so I can get away with nothing… if I were in a place where humidity is a problem I would patch the inside of the barrel.

BCD,

Many, MANY opinions on barrel cleaning. Here's my humble opinion.

After each range session - 15 to 30 rounds - I run a "LIGHTLY oiled" Bore Snake thru my barrel - twice. Put it in the safe. Repeat this after each range session. In my experience - rifle accuracy isn't negatively affected by the LIGHT oiling before each range trip.

When the time comes to store the rifle - for a few months and more - clean the barrel - oil it LIGHTLY - store it.

Sorry - no scientific proof in any of this. Just my experience based on what I've read and done over many long years. Hope that helps.
