Ok, guys. After messing around with a Howa Mini in 6mm ARC, I’ve been itching for a 6mm creedmoor. I have a Remington 700 XCR Compact Tactical in .223 that I’ve never shot and just sits in my safe. I’m thinking of three ways to make the creedmoor happen (hense the thread title) and I’m trying to figure out the best spend of time and money. I have a good idea of the costs and I know the options are endless and based on my needs but I’m curious what you guys would do in my position.
Bang - Sell the XCR, buy a custom action and have someone build me a rifle with 18” fluted barrel, and Hnt26 chassis.
Marry - Use the XCR action as a donor action and have someone build out from there. I’ve reached out to Short Action Customs for both of the cases above because I’m a few miles from their shop.
Kill - Leave the custom idea behind completely and sell the Remington to fund part of the purchase of a Seekins Element M3. I’d like to use my OG-6s on the build and I have a concern about the carbon barrel. Jordan at Seekins has been super responsive so I’m going to ask him about this specifically. On the other hand, their chassis and the barrel swap system seems to be a future proof plan.
What do you guys think?
