That was my initial reaction as well. Haven’t had my hands on the Bane yet to compare though. The Kifaru Sherman pocket is a lot like a trimmed down SO Talon.

I won't be purchasing this for a few reasons. However I did notice that Kifaru released a framesheet to go w/ the bane pack. I'm picking one up to be used in my native.

I'm loving mine as an EDC pack, also.using it as more of a big Sherman instead of a lid, haven't used it to stalk in yet..... maybe on the next few days

How are you liking it as a big Sherman? That's actually how I'm considering using it.

Trying to decide between that or a stripped down Shape Charge as a small day pack that I can attach to a Duplex and run as a day hunt bag, w/meat packing ability.

I've only used it on some local hikes testing it out but we are headed hunting tonight and I'm running the apollo and the bane so we will see how it does on an actual hunt! However in light testing I love it. I liked the Sherman but felt it was too small overall... the bane is the solution

It looks like the best option for the under 1500 CI category. Is the idea to attach this bag to a larger pack and then use it as a final approach pack or is this just to use for a day hunt?

You could do all of the above..currently sitting here glassing deer with an apollo and the bane attached to it for day hunts and I'm loving this combo. Will be on a 5k muskeg of 44 mag for backcountry hunts

Here’s my 44 mag and bane with a don’t shoot me grab-it from earlier this week mule deer hunting. Great backcountry setup, I packed for comfort and could still easily rig just the Bane for my day hunts.
