I have 2 Tikkas set up the same - 18” barrel, 3-9swfa, suppressor - .223 and 6.5cm

My only suppressor is a YHM Resonsator 2 I bought in 2020. It was intended to be used on everything I shoot (AR, bolt actions, 300bo) and it works just fine aside from it’s heavy (15oz direct threaded)

Considering getting lightweight hunting suppressor but not sure if it’s a huge advantage.

My tikkas comes to 8# 7oz with this set up and the balance point is ~1” in front of the action screw. I’ve hunted with this for a few years and it feels good, although a bit front heavy. I’m not sure if that’s just my impression or if others agree based on these specs. I wish a friend would get a lightweight suppressor that I can test. I’d rather not spend the $ if it’s not a big advantage over the one I have now.

That’s pretty much where you want it, if not a little too far back. I set up rifles to balance 2” or so in front of the mag well/front action screw. You should never use the magwell as a rest, so why would you want it to balance there?

Alright great, so if my balance point and overall weight is reasonable for all around hunting, I’ll keep it as is and use that money on ammo!! It felt more front heavy in the field until I balanced it. I was surprised that is was that far back with a heavy steel can
