We stayed in Exumas for a week last spring. Lots of fishing from the shore, beautiful beaches, and easy to fly into Georgetown from Atlanta or several spots in Florida. Stayed the first night up by Coco Plum beach and rest of the week down on Little Exuma. All VRBO. Fished unguided with good success and had a guided trip canceled on account of weather.

While there is so much to like, there are some of the filthiest (litter) and laziest people I’ve ever come across. They sure are nice people though. And the cost of groceries, beer, etc is terrible. Cost us an easy $12k for family of 5 with flights and rental van.

Then you have a bunch of multimillionaire dillweeds on sailboats that get off on seeing live pigs swimming and feeding them crackers from a guided boat. Or saying they swam in Thunderball grotto.

Glad I went but all the majestic stories are overhyped… cross that one off the list for me, but maybe I’m missing something or didn’t have enough money for the grand experience with servants.

Also went to the Exumas several years ago & agree with the above post. We don't like a lot of noise/ people, etc. & this is its only redeeming quality. It's like you're on another planet. If you don't have your own boat lined up you're screwed bc no one there gives a shit about you & they might do an hours worth of activity a day. If you wanna go to the grocery store figure at least $100 just for the ride & good luck because you may not make it back alive if you have a driver like we did. Definitely never going back

As others have said Vrbo..we stayed in Exuma and it was pretty awesome. Views amazing, fishing everywhere, food was great. Now the bad roads are terrible, rental vehicles terrible, some of the island is not built back from all the hurricanes but overall would highly recommend.

Below is where we stayed we caught barracuda and lobster right off the dock. The blue hole north of there was absolutely full of fish...
