Me and my wife are looking at either going back to Maui or going to the Bahamas to switch things up. I really want to do some bonefishing but that is not that main goal of this trip. We also don't really want to stay at a huge resort like Sandals or Atlantis unless someone convinces me otherwise. We tend to like smaller resorts for the quiet. The tricky part is some of these Bahamas fishing lodges are too quiet for my wife and 12 year old stepson. If we go to the Bahamas I will probably want to do at least one day guided bonefishing and maybe another day of bottom fishing with my stepson and then try and do a couple afternoons or mornings DIY.

The only lodge I am finding that seems to fit our needs is H20 bonefishing or Kamalame Cay (Expensive). Has anyone else been to either of these or have any other recommendations?

Rent a VRBO in the Bahamas. You can be as close or as far away from things as you want. I personally like fishing in the keys better but Bahamas can be great too.

From what I can tell the keys are significantly more expensive
+1 look for VRBOs or Airbnbs. Keys have gotten crazy expensive. We used to go 2-3 times a year (I’m in FL) and now go maybe once. You can go anywhere in Caribbean/Bahamas now cheaper than a week in a major key.

Spanish Wells is THE PLACE! Almost nobody has heard of it from what ive seen. Go after Aug 1st and you can spear spiny lobster , fish for bonefish, dive for conch , and fish for many other species. Can also rent a boat cheap as dirt too. VRBO's on the island , and they arent that expensive. Quite a few charters available.

I have been looking at VRBO's and I am really leaning this way now. Spanish Wells is on top of this list. It looks like it fits a lot of what we want. Looks like there are a few boat rental in the area and enough things to do to keep us all happy.

Chub Cay off the back of my sailboat in 1986, it’s been a long time since I’ve been back so I can’t recommendIMG_0076.jpeg anywhere.

If you’re looking for something truly different you might think about Aitutaki in the Cook Islands…

I just looked at flights to the cook islands and unfortunately I don't think I can spend $2000 - $3000 for each of us on flights. Someday though. Flights to the Bahamas are like $700 each.

There are places in the Bahamas that fit your bill but the people that enjoy them (like me) certainly prefer to keep them quiet. I think if you look you'll find what you're after, but may be tough to get someone to spell it out for you.
