Baffles me.

He was a very young man. Early teens I would say. I didn't say anything. My original post here was just an observation, not a condemnation of somebody's choices. They are personal, just as my opinion on the subject. As I age, I like light, compact rifles more and more. It just seems counter productive to burden them with a heavy, long scope. I'm slowly losing my ability to walk because of degenerative bone disease in my lower back. I'm pretty much forced to go light and be less mobile more than any time in my life. As I said, it's just a observation. It is however becoming more imperative to me because of the health problems.

There’s a number of possible explanations that wouldn’t seem extraordinarily baffling. Also true that it might be a bit of a head scratcher to the crowd. Or a mix of both. I guess we’ll never know.

I happen to have a model seven. I currently have a 1-4x on it.

Here’s something that might be interesting to look at:

Leupold VX3HD 6.5-20x50 = 20.8oz
S&B 1.1-4 Short Dot = 20oz
Trijicon Accupoint 1-6 = 19.2oz
Nightforce SHV 3-10 = 22.2oz
SWFA 6x = 20.6x
Minox ZP5 5-25x56 = 34oz

Sorry about your back.

Ive used a 1-4 on a Model Seven also. I had a 3-9×33 one one and have a 2-8×35 on one also. The weight is one thing, the length is what gets me. That young man's scope was a Leupold 6.5-20×50 with a 4" sun shade. 18.5" barrel. Just took me as funny! Thank You for the words about my back. Dr's are talking bone graffs and titanium plates to stabilize things. Only down fall is they have to cut the bad bone out. If the graffs fail, I'm worse off. I'm thinking about the pros and cons. I'm only 60, whatever I do has to last awhile. At least I hope it will last! With no action I'll be in a wheelchair in a few years.
