Bacon Grease

I've had a quart jar of it next to my stove for about 20 years. I have never refrigerated it and can't recall cleaning the inside. There's a bit of solids in the bottom....but it doesn't seem to be an issue.

I screw the lid on and wash it with hot water.....that's it.

Definitely save it and use it for cooking other things. We have a can by the stove that has a filter that sits right on the edge of the can. A lid goes over that. Use it for a lot of dishes but really love it with fried tacos. My wife spreads the meat out on a corn tortilla then fries the meat and tortilla together in the bacon grease. Best tacos ever!

When we lived in the city I would dribble it over the dog turds that would show up in the front yard from dickhead dog walkers. They would all mysteriously disappear within a day or two.

Do you have to render it?

I put it in a container (without straining) for use, which is typicallly liver or something.

Genuinely curious.
