It seems that a lot of guys eat bacon while hunting. One thing that usually isn't mentioned is what type. Do you usually take thin pre-cooked store bought or just cook some regular ole bacon?
How long have you had it in your pack and still be fine to eat?

Per the USDA, dry cured cooked bacon can be stable for 10 days without refrigeration. I have never on my hunts had any past 4-5 days (generally eat my bagel sandwiches before i get into my freeze dried meals) that I can remember, but its good for awhile.

I dry cure and smoke my bacon to 160* Never tried leaving out. It also wouldn't last 10 days in my fridge mostly because its delicious

I cook thick cut in the oven. Put it in the fridge for a few hours, wrap it in foil and its good for several days at room temp.
