Backyard Giant

I live in Colorado in the unit that I hunt and am really excited about my deer tag this year. Well, yesterday morning I got even more excited when I saw this giant milling around in the brush behind my backyard fence. He was with another smaller 3x4, but this guy is gonna be a giant come fall.

What really struck me about both animals was how beautiful their summer coats were- such a lush brown and so full. I saw a TON of deer this spring, more than normal because of all of the snow we got, and those coats are so dang mangy in the spring, it was cool to see such a beautiful, big-bodied animal with such a gorgeous coat.

Oh ya, he looks beefy and healthy for sure. I'm sure those antlers will be excellent when he's done growing them.

Thanks for the positive comments. Yes, I love being able to be right where the wildlife is. It’s super cool to see their movement patterns- when we got big snow this spring I would see 100-200 deer on my drive home from work every day. All the sudden, in the course of a week, they were all gone. Was cool to see.


Here was the other buck the big guy was with, I mean I’d shoot him this year but he will be a really nice buck in a year or two also.

Nope, but I’d take him with a bow on some BLM about 500 yards from my house. But I don’t think he will be here then.

There's a lot of bachelor groups low this year where I'm at in CO. Saw 7 different bucks within 2 miles of the house this morning and have a couple groups visiting the yard daily!
