I have two backup bows, but they are nothing like my main bow. I have them because I don't want to sell them. They still shoot great. I would probably consider taking my 2006 Old Glory on a really rough hunt, that bow and components are bombproof.

That process leads to quite a few old bows around that are worth very little. In fact I just sold my 2011 Hoyt Carbon Element for about 40% of what I paid 5 years ago.

That's why I still have mine. I saw a LH element on ebay a few weeks ago for like $300 and not selling. I'll just keep it for it for that.

I think it doesn't hurt to have a back up. I saw my buddy take a fall this year during a hunt and busted up his string and limbs. It's a rare event that you need it but when something happens having a back up is a good thing.

Two bows for me.
Not always identical but this year they happen to be.
If you only have one and are on a road trip hunt and have something go wrong with it, that time spent looking for a shop and getting it fixed will make you a believer in a backup bow.

If you can even get it fixed in the time frame of your hunt. My hunting is 3+ hours in on horse back, an hour to a paved road, and according to my bows manufacturer another 4 hours or so from there to a shop, then there's the risk of the shop needing to order the part for you (bent cam...). When you're on a week long hunt the two days of traveling can just about kill it then you start looking at it taking another day or two for the part.... It's better to just have a backup a couple hours away and lose half a day of hunting to go get it than run the risk of losing the entire hunt.

Not identical, but I do have a backup bow. Killed my elk with it this year after I fell down the side of the mountain with my primary bow tumbling down beneath me, bending the sight, and calling everything else about it into question.

Well, picked up the bow this week so now I have two identical bows just have to set it up and tune it.
Didn't come with all the modules and I got the last one in Canada (cabelas) so G5 is sending the mod I need for free.
Got an additional $70 off and a $20 gift card for the hassle. I went to the closest elite dealer to try out an e32 or impulse31 but they no longer sell elite so closest dealer is 5hrs away.
Pretty happy with it, saved about $780 over buying a new elite like I was thinking of doing.

Two primaries and two backups. ;-) mathews Creed and elite Hunter for primary and elite z28 and PSE Vendetta for backups. Shoot the primaries each shooting session to keep them and me tuned to each, z28 is ready to go and the Vendetta will just need a quiver. Elites are 60lb and the others are 70lb set at about 65lb.
