Backpacking chair for glassing on uneven ground???

This might be an old topic of discussion but I'm looking for a quality lightweight backpacking chair that I can sit and glass on soft or uneven ground. My REI chair has the typical 4 legs and is terrible sitting on a slope or it just digs in the soft dirt. Anybody figure the perfect pack chair for hunters on uneven and soft dirt?

If you don’t mind actually sitting on the ground I’ve really liked my crazy creek hex chair. If on uneven terrain you really only need the corner of the chair touching the ground so it has been easy to kick a small spot for that with my boot. Haven’t found a spot I couldn’t get it set up quickly yet.

Listen to HTLT and buy yourself a crazy creek camp chair. They make a smaller lightweight pack version, which is the one I have. And they also make a bigger “recliner” style with what appears to be an extended back rest. Packable, lightweight, adjustable, muted colors.

It’s the only way I can sit in the woods for any extended amount of time, as my S1-L5 is severely herniated.

+1 for the crazy creek chair. I also cut an old ridgerest the same size as the seat area for some additional padding as well as using it for placing in front of my tent for knees and feet.

I’m still using my old therm-a-rest pad and chair kit. Has been working great for 20 years.

I also use a small cut version of a thermarest foam pad. It’s light. It’s small enough I can put it back in my pack and move on.

Otherwise I sit on my pack, or sit on the ground and lean into my pack. I use the thermarest for rocks because rocks wreck my back, and sometimes I use my pack to stabilize my glass when I don’t carry a tripod because of weight .

I can't make a recommendation, but I'm in the same situation. Last week I "Googled" hunting chairs for uneven terrain and came up with several options, some were very expensive options, but options nevertheless.

I use a single legged stool. Decently comfortable as long as you keep both feet on the floor lol. Less than a pound and easy to strap on a pack.

Another crazy creek vote, I have a btr stool, helinox chairs, etc and keep coming back to this, in part because it works way better on uneven ground, as well as on soft dirt or sand where a chair leg sinks. The lighter version folds easy so it fits better in a pack, too.

If all of you crazy-creek users contact exo mountain gear and tell them you want a lightweight version, we might even get one thats half the weight of a regular cc chair.

Personally, I don’t really think the extra weight of packing a chair is worth it. There’s honestly nothing wrong with sitting on the ground most of the time. The only situations where I really see the benefit are when it’s wet, muddy, or snowy and getting off the ground actually matters.

I packed a chair 10 miles in and 10 miles back out on a backcountry hunt once, and I literally never sat in it a single time. After that trip, I pretty much decided the weight and bulk just weren’t worth carrying for me.
