35 pounds would be a little one or maybe one with a lot of meat damage. A mature whitetail buck will yield 60-90 lbs in most cases.
Maybe in Iowa but not in most of the east. Average adult live weight of a buck deer in PA for example is 140# so your 60# boned would be about right. Doe are considerably less. And the father south you go the average weight drops.

As Far as packs the Popup is a really good choice as well as the Kuiu pack Frame models if you are intent on packing the deer out along with the gear you carry in.

I guess I am biased because I only shoot mature bucks when hunting in the mountains. If I want to shoot a small one I can do that close to my truck. I have packed two white tails out of the Georgia mountains and they were around 175 and 240 live weight.

I also shoot big ones but I'm blessed in doing it close to the truck. All good.

I have been running a MR Cabinet for the last few years which has done pretty well. I'm going to try my new EXO 4800 out on a couple hunts with the ultimate plan of buying the 1800 bag to use. I think it will work well.

I don’t saddle hunt but use a MR Terraframe 50 to pack my lone wolf stand and sticks. In NJ I am not allowed to quarter a deer and leave the rest in the woods. Crazy but true.

Here is my pack with a field dressed doe that weighed about 110-120 pounds. When I got back to my tree I strapped the stand and the sticks using the outer compression straps and some additional straps I had in a pocket. Total weight about 140+. Same basic design as the pintler but 500ci bigger and over $100 cheaper!

I have a Badlands Superday pack and am very happy with it. Most my hunting is accessible with a quad So I dont have the need to pack out deer.

That may be changing soon and I’m looking into the K3 1800 of SG Avail they would probably do what I needed in a saddle hunting pack. I also one stick with a platform attached to it so I dont need a huge pack to hike in with.

I modified a Kifaru Stryker and I really like it. Sorry I don’t have pics with the platform and sticks attached right now View attachment 414937View attachment 414940View attachment 414941but I’m sure you get the idea. I had my brother sew a sipper in the bottom so I could take just the bag up the tree with me if I wanted and leave the rest on the ground. I strap the platform and sticks to all that molle webbing then fold the pack up over top of it. With all the webbing attachments there’s places for more straps and plenty of room to pack meat between the bag and frame.
I really like the idea of having the zipper on the bottom like you do. That seems like it be perfect when you don’t want to take everything up the tree.

Man I love it. Now way I’m taking that frame with all those straps and loops to get hung up on everything on the way up.
That had always been an issue in my mind as well. That and the fact that the frame just seems like it would be too bulky sticking out from the tree. I’m going to look into doing this as well. I don’t see any downfalls to it. It is definitely nice to have options for sure. Thanks again.

Leaning towards sawtooth. Seems like a small enough bag for long day hunting. Although I’m 6’7” 240lbs, so im not to concerned with a bigger bag/frame, what other might consider bulky, I probably would not. Full frame would be more ideal for pack out and the 270* zipper on main compartment looks awesome. Also saw there’s a lid attachment that can be added if I ever do multi day hunts

What did you end up going with?
