All packed and ready to head out with my BIL for 4 days. This is my first backcountry backpack hunt and I'm just curious what people are packing weight wise for 4 days?

My pack weighs 36 pounds for 4 days not including water or my bow.

There is a lot of water sources where we are going so I will be packing two nalgene's and the sawyer gravity system.

I would say that is a really good weight to be around for 4 days. More importantly... how do you feel about your pack weight? I don't have to carry it. haha

My base setup is 39 pounds, this includes 3 liters of water, but no food. Food is 2 lbs per day on top of that.

It all comes down to your training, if you're carrying 60-80 up a mountain a couple days a week all summer than feel free to add some more gear to your pack. If youre just winging it and haven't put in the training time than go as light as you can without leaving out the essentials. Regular mountain cardio (hardio) and regular scouting trips will condition you to move weight easily on game day.

Same as mine for 7 days. I carry one Nalgene and some empty collapsible bladders...lots of water up the Mt so I'm not packing it!

All food is dehydrated except some trail mix and power/cliff bars.

Figure bow, binos, bear spray, knife, range finder, trekking poles, calls and shorts/shirt/boots for hike in, add 15lbs.

My setup almost to a t.

Man, I had to pack water 3k vertical last week. It sucked. 10L of water is like hauling an anchor uphill. Deer were munching on what was left of a snowbank for their water.

Lol, I would die if I didn't pack water in! I'm CONSTANTLY drinking from the time I leave the truck/tent in the morning until bedtime.

Mine for 5 days is 37 pounds including water, food, and weapon. That is bare friggin bones. No extra change of clothes. All freeze dried and dehydrated foods except cashews and peanut butter M&M’s. No spare head lamp. No spare batteries. No phone or external battery pack. Just what it takes to survive. If you are only in 2-3 miles, there is no sense in bringing stuff that can be replaced by taking a bike during the middle of the day. That’s my thinking anyways.

As dry as it's been in a lot of places, I just hope that the water sources I'm expecting to be there are still there. I wasn't planning on hauling water in. I guess worst case scenario, I pack back out if I don't have water.

I haven't weighed my pack, and probably won't. All I know is that it is nowhere near "meat pack" weight, so I'm good.

My pack weighs 44 lbs, but I'm planning for 9 days. I really want to be at 40 lbs based on some previous trips because the hike in is long and rough as hell with the dead fall, BUT it will be nice to have an extra change of clothes, batteries, charges, etc if needed later in the week.

In my opinion, you're pack is heavy at 36 lbs for only 4 days, but to each his own.

I wish you good luck and happy hunting!

I just want to say how proud I am of all you guys that this thread didn't turn into a whos wee wee is bigger based on who has the lightest pack....which is somewhat counter intuitive if you think about it.

For pack including water and bow...maybe 40-45? The water and accessories pile on quick...prob should count the chest harness and binos as well. I think most answers you get may not be to the same criteria so take it with a grain of salt. It really comes down to how fit you are as others have stated. So I should probably have a 10 pound pack but FTW.

Yep, I count water and food in my pack weight. Without it, sheez, it's pretty light lol

For those who have posted weights so far, would you mind posting your gear list? My pack is always heavier. After all these years, my pack is always a little heavier than others I talk to and hunt with.

I just wieghed mine yesterday to see. With 4 days of food, no water and not including range finder and binos I was at 38.4lbs. I’m pretty happy with that as I will probably leave a few things in the truck depending on weather. Good luck everyone. Stay safe!

I can post mine next week as I am leaving early tomorrow and it's already loaded up. I have to fill Camelback bladders still.so don't have a weight with that.

I’m at 60 lbs for 7 days, but I found out how to go light. My buddy’s pack, that I packed for him is 35 lbs. You just have to find a partner to pack all the heavy shit for you.
