I have been doing this loop in the selkirks out of the pack river for about 20 years. I put it together, but i am not the only one who knows the route. Anyway, i always feel a sence of accomplishment after makeing this roughly 40 mile loop thru the selkirks of north Idaho.

I miss sledding. So much fun.

Stay safe out there. I don't know about your area but the avalanche danger here this year has been high.

Great photos and awesome trip, but I would have thought a serious mountain biker type like you would have done that loop on skis. 😀

Be careful out there. Several years ago, one of my childhood friends, who was a very experienced snowmobiler, was killed in an avalanche on Roman Nose.

BTW — The view from the top of Chimney Rock is pretty inspiring.

funny, I am a human powered sportsperson, whos favorite activity is snowmobiling.

I stop counting at 6 the amount of buddies i have lost in slides. i bought my first book on avalanche safety in 93 when i was living in alaska. I have probably cut close to 30 slides. 2 this year. not bragging, just the reality of my sledding expierence. I am lucky, did what i had to do to live, in a few different slides. avalanches and whitewater have a lot of similarities, my love of surfing violent waves in my kayak defintely helped me live in one slide in particular. I try not to dwell on the slide aspect, but i definatly respect mother nature and the powerful force it has.

yes the view from chimmney is excellent.

That’s a LEGIT loop, wow! Lotta serious country you covered. Bet you didn’t have much company either.
