Headed to AZ next week for late rifle and I’m really not sure what I need insulation wise… this is my first late season trip so I’m a bit of a noob in that regard.

As of now highs are mid 40s and lows in 20s for start of hunt. If that holds, knowing we’ll be doing a fair amount of glassing, would i need any sort of insulation for my legs? I plan to wear base layers and FL corrugates and/or catalyst. I have a down sleeping bag I could use if needed I guess?

I know wind will dictate as much as temps but given these temps am I safe to pass on taking puffy pants or a woobie style blanket and just take a sleeping bag just in case?

I run the FL corrugates and catalyst pants regularly and had a late AZ tag a few years ago. I went with the puffy pants and was not disappointed in my decision. I'd go that route again if doing it over. Hope that helps.

I tried a woobie as a cheap alternative years ago. Just not enough insulation for me. Plus it’s not exactly light weight. Since then, puffy pants have served me extremely well. Especially for longer glassing.

I’m headed out there as well and will have puffy pants. Just make sure to shed them before dropping off after something, the vegetation will shred them…. Ask me how I know 😂
