Avoiding credit card interest on out of state draw applications/bonus point apps

BTW..thanks for the reminder.

i just paid my balance. now if i could get my wife to forget about it..i could use the positive balance and buy a new Hoyt..hahahhaha..

No chance? Did you leave the choice fields blank?

Virtually no chance. There's an infinitesimally small difference between "no chance" and "virtually no chance". In my case it is a total cumulative odds of 2% over all my choices over both deer and elk.

If you don't have to, why carry the balance? I teach 8th grade Social Studies and do a personal finance unit every year.... even my 8th graders would know what to do in this situation.

Pay your balance, keep your credit score in good standing, and when the refunds hit you can put your day to day expenses on the card until the extra credit is used up. Then take the money you have left over and get it into a savings account.

People keep talking about credit card refunds. What state does refunds on the card? I know CO sends checks and I thought ID and WY did also.

Suffice it to say, it complicates my bookkeeping significantly when I have to use the credit on the card by putting my day to day expenses on the card and then go back and transfer funds from the respective accounts. I have my reasons for wanting to avoid a direct refund to the credit card. A refund check, however suits me just fine.

So one state that does CC refund. Put it on your card and pay it off with savings. Put the refund checks in savings. I don't use a debit card for online charges because of fraud. If fraud shows up on my CC I am OK to sort it out. If fraud shows up on my debit card it will screw up my main account and cause a lot of problems. I have had fraud show upon my CC right after doing draws on two occasions now.

Here's what I do - I buy everything on my credit card. Doesn't matter if I have cash, or whatever, every expense I can goes on my card. From a 2$ cup of coffee, lunch, gas, anything I can. Why - no airline miles, but I get 2% back on everything deposited right into a bank account and it adds up.

What this means - by the time it comes to getting a "Refund" from one of my tags - I probably have enough monthly expenses from everything else in life that the refund is going towards other expenses or other tags. Haven't had to deal with needing a refund check yet.

I am with everyone else above - I never carry a balance, and always pay off in full before the due date.

i probably wont use my debit card. i typically only use it at the ATM. or grocery store to get cash back. i feel i have a better level of protection using my CC. last year, i bought my tags and they emailed me, "yo! did you just buy tags? good luck"...(okay i embellished, but there robot did send me a message)
