I find it funny that JVB is labeled as anti small bore, yet is shooting elk way out there with a 6.5 creed. He has a 22 creed and I have no doubt he’s taken deer with it. Professional gun writers shoot a really wide variety of cartridges to the extremes on both ends - and make money talking people through the drama in all the tribal camps. Lol

The funniest thing about the 223 crowd, besides how often they are shooting animals multiple times, is the mantra they are shooting so much more accurately, while sharing all the giant groups shot with a bipod and rear bag. I hope they never change - good kids, and they always make me smile. *chuckle*

I'm far from a 223 crowd person, but at least they are throwing up their targets. I won't blame the caliber for the shortcomings of the shooter. I have not seen half the number of targets from the big magnum crowd, especially not 20 and 30 rd groups.

Imagine being so entrenched in your position you made fun of people for practicing, and hated on supported shooting. Good thing you shoot a magnum that will kill them just by flying nearby, cuts down on the practice ammo costs.

Tyler Freel literally just addressed this idea in his 22ARC moose vid - this idea that shooting multiple times is bad is hilarious. Like the single shot is some kind of magical hope - I mean bang/flop is cool, but not dependable. Meanwhile, shooting mags into big animals multiple times because they are "tough" and you need all of that power is held up (mountain goats being good example) in the oppositte, supportive fashion. Shoot till their down is always a saying with elk, because they are big and tough. Yet doing that with a smaller cartridge is bad?
