Average Age of Roksilde'ers

Dont know what 50 feels like as haven't got there yet but sometimes my brain acts like I'm a young ignorant teenager.

My wife will often tell me that I'm not a dumb person since I have a medical degree and I'm somehow responsible enough to keep our kid alive. But the next sentence will be: Even though I know you aren't dumb, I dont get how you thought (insert action or idea here) that was a good idea!

I’m old enough to remember the 1970s oil embargo, only being able to fill up your gas tank on either even or odd days that was based on your license plate number, and having to wait in long lines at the gas station, while sweating my ass off in a non-air conditioned, late 60’s model Opel, in Northern California. If you have to ask, the answer is “yes”, I’m still pissed off about that.

Everything old gets to be new again........

I remember:

---when we got our first black and white television, antenna on the house roof to dial in two stations
---when we got our first phone...the phone number was 526M.
---when the Remington 700 replaced the 721/722 line
---when all Winchesters were pre-'64
---going to a two room country school with grades 1-8, no kindergarten was offered

I think you might be older than me.

Old enough to remember driving on the Alcan highway before it was paved in 1969 from Fort Benning GA to Fort Richardson AK.
A moose fed into someone’s open kitchen window and made the news in a paper🤣
Took hunters ed in 1975 and got a paper certificate.
Party lines in Sandpoint Idaho.
Shooting a Magnum as a kid and thinking nothing of it🤙
You hunted for the joy and fun, with archaic gear, survived and listened to the elders saying I would scare all the elk with my bugling😂…I didn’t and don’t☠️
You learned to keep your wits, if turned around and your mind said your lost.
Learning was on the fly and trial and error most times.
1978 Savannah GA drive through liquor stores no ID required☠️
