Does anyone use a stone glacier avail 2200 for a day pack for white tail hunting?

looking for a new back pack for my north east tree stand hunting .

Ive used it as a day/travel pack but think its barely big enough. I wish I had the Kiowa as a more do it all small pack.

I have used it the past couple seasons for stand hunting. I think it depends on your hunting style. When I’m just on the ground or going to a ladder stand it’s great. I didn’t have any space issues and the organization is pretty good. Having no bottle pocket on the outside was an oversight and I’m not a fan of the SG hydro holster. I’m planning on swapping to Exo this year to be able to use the frame for stand and sticks.

I’ve owned and sold 2 of them. They are VERY well built. I just needed more organization and bottle pockets on the side. Again, the avail 2200 is a very very nice daypack, just didn’t work for me as an eastern whitetail hunter. Maybe if I was skiing and ice climbing out west I would be singing a different tune. I am now using an Exo K3 1800 plus lid. It is my ideal whitetail pack with ability to easily carry in a stand and take out a quartered whitetail.

The 1800 or 3200 is what I’m looking at swapping to. How does the space in the 1800 compare to the avail?

1800 is a slimmer more streamlined pack. With a lid, the cubic inches is close to 2200. I much prefer the Exo with K3 frame. It’s sooooo easy to drop the bag, strap my stand to the frame, reattach the bag and hike on out.

so what bag would you guys recommend?
It depends on how you’re hunting. Are you using it to tote your gear to a preset stand/blind or are you hauling in a climber or stand with sticks? If everything is already set up the Avail will be great for your gear. If you plan to carry a stand in find a pack with a frame. The Avail can be run on one of the SG frames if you already happen to have one but there are several good options out there. I’m leaning to the Exo 1800 but had also considered the mystery ranch pop ups

just carrrying in daily needs, knifes water food jacket, antlers, regular stuff for a day sit.

I don’t think you’ll have any complaints with the Avail for that. It’s an extremely well made bag. The only real complaint is the lack of a bottle pocket on the outside. I just picked up a mystery ranch bottle pocket to see if that helps

Extremely well made bag from a great company but overkill for basic gear for a day hunt in my opinion

I used an Avail last year for saddle hunting around home in IA and as a day pack out in Nebraska and the only downside as a whitetail pack, in my opinion, is that getting things out of the pack can be a little noisy if I'm not careful. I felt that it had plenty of room and enough organization to work well for me.

I use one for day hunts for elk/deer. Mine is attached to a Krux frame so I can pack meat out without wasting a trip going back for a frame.

Outside of hunting I use it as a daypack- summer through winter. I must be in the minority, but I really like the hydro-holster :D

I would think it would just fine for any day use (minus hauling 60-80 lbs of meat).

The Avail is a solid pack. I used it in Namibia for all of my daily needs. I really enjoyed using it. I was actually all set on buying one, until Kuiu had a sale a few weeks back on the Venture 2300 for $160. I popped on that right away due to its adaptability to carrying a bow/sticks. I think that the Venture 2300 has some better features than the Avail does, but it certainly wouldn't be something to turn me away from buying the Avail.
