Automatic Video Play

This started for me a couple weeks ago. Various sites, including Rokslide, start playing a video automatically when opened. I find this annoying and followed the steps I found on the internet to disable video autoplay but was unsuccessful. Have others experienced this? Is there any chance this could be turned off at the site level? I find it slightly less annoying than door to door salesmen. If I want to buy something I will go to the store and buy it. If I want to watch a video, I will click the play button.
