I have a Bushnell Match Pro 6-24x50 non-IR on my Savage 110 Tactical that was a poor choice for my purposes (I didn't realize it was meant for rimfire). Nothing wrong with the scope, its just the wrong choice for 1000+yds.......I got blinded by $350

I have 2 main issues(and a somewhat minor issue):
1) the center dot is way too big
2) No Zero stop
3) It doesn't show revs of the elevation turret

I am looking at either the Midas or Helos line from Athlon with the following features:
FFP
MIL
Zero turrets
Zero stop
Locking turrets
Show revs
Adj parallax
30 or 34mm tube
anywhere in the 4-35x range
50 or 56mm
Christmas tree-ish reticle
Illuminated would be nice

GovX has good prices on them.

Im not spending $1000+ on this, if I do any competition it will be sporadic and I know my skills will be by far my biggest hinderance.

So the question is which do you recommend.
If not one of those, let me hear another option.

We’ve had good success with the Midas Tac
(2) 6-24 and (1) 5-25

ETA. I recently picked up (2) Arken EPL 4-16 and they are doing well so far. Not many rounds on them. Similar price point so maybe worth looking into.

The Helo Gen 2 has been a really good scope and should fit your requirements. I also have several other Athlon scopes and they have been great.

The Ares BTR Gen 2 also fits in that price range. Any thoughts on Helos BTR G2 vs Midas TAC G2 HD vs Ares BTR G2 UHD?

Clearly defined price ranges make things easy but it seems Athlon has a TON of overlap when it comes to price so its hard to decide. All 3 are in the $450-650 range

If going by the athlon website, the order of quality best to less best is:
Ares BTR Gen2(Gen 3 is current)
Midas Tac
Helos

Not sure if thats accurate.

I’ve got (2) Ares BTR’s. 2.5-15.
With those I like the illumination compared to my Midas Tac’s.
I wish the BTR’s were capped windage and a little lighter.

Zero retention and tracking between the Midas and Ares have been the same for me. No issues.
I do like the illumination of the BTR for hunting.

Mine are gen 1 Midas Tac’s and gen 2 Ares BTR for reference
