I ordered one of these today on a whim because I have been eyeing thermals for my next adventure in "spending money on rifle stuff." I got it for under $500 so I do not have a whole lot into it. It will probably be on my suppressed 22LR with subs to take care of critters that roam at night around my place. My shots will be most likely under 50 yards.

Anyone have one? There is not much content on YT but I have been happy with all my Athlon products.

Initial impressions are good. I tried it on a hot summer day in middle GA. I could make out rocks, my wife (scary!) and the neighbors cat. I will break it out again tonight. I get deer and raccoon regularly in my back yard so we will see...I hope.

Now that you have used it for a while any update? im looking at one as i could get it cheap as well.

It has been great with one very small thing. The screen will freeze occasionally but only for a second or two. I do not know if it is a software issue or if moving it too fast overwhelms the processor. I was able to dispatch 5 raccoons a couple nights ago. They were setting up shop in my back yard. Using a suppressed 22LR with subsonic ammo. They had no idea what was going on. All without lights. I can tell the difference between cats, possums, coons, otters and other small vermin out to 80-100 yards. I can see them further out but I need to get within that distance to differentiate between them.

Sounds good. What about a coyote. Think at 150 you could make it out pretty good or still have to be within 100

You should be able to make out a coyote out to 150 easy. The smaller animals are just so similar that at distance they all look the same. Dogs and deer are big enough that the size difference stands out.
