Who has some experience on both of these spotters? I am in favor of saving weight with the Athlon but would like to know how they compare.

I think, side by side, you'd be hard pressed to see any difference, however, your wallet certainly can fell it. The Athlon would be my suggestion

I got the Athlon. I take it over an old 80mm on my sheep hunts. Great mid size spotter. Great value. I only miss the big beast first and last light. Sure don't miss it on pack ins and climbing vertical.

I only have experience with the Athlon ares but it is well built and robust. It’s been on many hunts with me in SE Alaska and has held up well. I’d also take a look at Kowa 553 for weight savings. Wish I had saved up a few more for that upgrade in the long run.
