Could someone explain why the turrets are so tall? Makes zero sense. Sure looks like the SWFA patent ran out.

I just bought one of these in MIL off of ScopeList using their make an offer feature. They accepted an offer %20 below asking price. I just mounted it to a .223. Interested to see if it holds zero.
Please let us know how you like it when you get some time behind it.

I just measured the elevation turret on my 10x42 SWFA vs the locked position of the elevation turret on my Athlon 10x42 and they are just about exactly the same height around 1.25in.

I’d just swfa … buy once cry once
I thought about that, but then I over think everything, just ask SWMBO that has been married to me for 33 years, lol. But I thought, what would upset me more? Get the swfa, it somehow breaks, I send it in, and then wait 3 years to get some type of replacement. OR get the cheaper Athlon, it somehow breaks, I call and get a new one? It seems both companies have scopes made at the LOW factory, thought what I have found of the Athlon that are made there are 5x the cost. Both companies have "headquarters" here in the US, but are really similar, except I think the Athlon is almost 4 oz heavier....if the Athlon is still around on 10% off Monday's at BP I may just order one. We will see.....Great thread to the OP.

Got the Athlon in. Haven’t been able to check the important stuff, tracking and zero retention, but have spent a bit of time looking it over. Clicks are VERY positive with minimal slop in between. Index lines on the turrets line up very well with the clicks. Elevation has about 34 mils from bottomed out to topped out. The turret rotation marks are nonsensical. I would expect when the turret is bottomed out, that it would align somewhere close to the “0” index, but it does not. Same thing on the windage. Parallax adjustment is nice and firm. Glass is really good for the price. Reticle is too fine for low light hunting.

Won’t be able to check tracking, zero retention or reticle subtention for a couple of weeks due to work, but will report when able.
