Just a passing thought this morning. The whole government shutdown and social distancing is only going to really increase the ATF wait time. I have a couple form 4's and 2 form 1's in currently. It was a ball kick when I thought about it.

I'm in a lockdown area and can't even get my new rifle delivered because there are no FFL's open. And the rifle got finished 4 weeks early even! Killin me.

Must be a gun buying frenzy too. I bought a rifle a week ago and when the dealer did the BG check, he said I was #147 in the que. He said it would be a while so I left and he called me an hour later saying it finally went through.

My form 4 is going to take as long as it takes. It's been tough to watch people get their stamps back in 2 to 3 months while mine waits. I guess that's how they get the 7 month average. Do a few short turn around and let the rest wait.

I've read, over at the hide, that the ATF plans to still process forms while this is going on but I'm sure things will slow substantially.

I bought another M70 yesterday and the dealer was on hold for 1 1/2 hours waiting for the ATF, but thank goodness it finally went through.

I figured the wait was going to get longer, then I got a call yesterday. 142 days wait from check cashed to in hand on my half off gander outdoors impulse buy.

here in CO im hearing of a week wait time last night i was told there were 7k people in the cue.

I think you and the op are talking about different things. Buying a regular firearm off the shelf is taking longer too. Getting a form 1, 3 or 4 - like for a suppressor or short barrel rifle are likely to take considerably more time. With a form 4 you buy the suppressor, do the paperwork, the atf processes you payment and then you wait. The wait is anything from a couple months to 18 months in general. Usual wait times are just under a year. All that time what you purchased will sit in a safe. It doesn't matter what other security clearances you currently hold. You get to wait. COVID-19 will likely increase that wait.

Well color me surprised. Got 1 of 2 form 1's emailed back today. 33 days. Hopefully that one guy in the ATF closet can keep stamping away.

So why not send the ATF process crew home with a box full of forms & get stuff done. Video conference with local authorities or whatever it takes. Amazon could drop more forms at their front door as needed. Busy.... Busy.....Busy..

That's a good one! There are few (none) gov. run entities that 1) use common sense 2) realize they work FOR the people 3) care
For regular firearm sales here in MT if you have a concealed carry permit you fill out the form and there is no call in so no wait.

Here’s a phuqqin thought. It’s phuqqin 2020. 20 phuqqin 20....

Why the phuqq can’t I fill out a phuqqin 4473 on phuqqin line, get pre phuqqin approved, walk my phuqqin ass into a shop, get the gun I want, let the phuqqin shop send the SN back to the ATF as my phuqqin ass walks out the door?

Phuqqin duh.

Oh wait, it’s the phuqqin government and it’s still 1953.
