ATACR debris inside

Buddy’s new 5-25 ATACR. 240 rounds of 300 NMI on it. This is his second one that has had the internal lenses covered in debris like this. Still tracks and RTZ of course, but a bummer none the less. It could be raining titties and he would get hit in the head with a dick though haha. If he didn’t have bad luck, he wouldn’t have any luck 😅.

I’m not saying do it, but I had a vortex do that after a repair like 8 years ago. They told me to hit it with a phone book and knock the debris off. There is grease in the tube that it will stick to.

The debris shifts around with every shot. I don’t think you can knock it down into anything to correct it like that unfortunately

You can. There is a grease inside scopes to catch debris. If you sent it in, they would smack it on a pad all around to get the debris to stick. All scopes do it at times. I currently have an ATACR, Leupold, and S&B PMII that have debris on the lenses. I haven’t cared enough to take them off the guns and smack them to clean it up.

I’ll be damned. So you need to removed the scope and just smack it on a rubber pad?

Focusing on the objective end with impacts?

I’m not sure what part of the scope the actual debris is trapped in

Yep. Hit it on all sides until it’s gone. Smack, check, smack, etc.

Start at the objective, but then you can try middle, and then ocular if they don’t work. Be easy on the ocular.

Also sorry for dismissing your suggestion originally.

Large fleck in my Leupold Mk4 spotter after it took a spill on a tripod.

slapping it around made it go away. Sure am glad it was not a $2500 riflescope with a multitude of specs though ha

Remember, it is just an aiming device, so as long as your buddy doesn’t use one of those specs to aim with, he should be fine. I have a hard time remembering what is important though so I would probably be pissed. 😀

He don’t care. He didn’t even mention it. I saw it when I shot behind. He just cares it doesn’t lose zero and tracks. But yes, I wouldn’t want debris all inside my $3000 scope either. I’m sure he’ll fix it after season
