At a crossroads are diving into Form

If it's me, for what you are doing, I'm getting a 6mm. Myself, and a bunch of the guys I hunt with used to use mono's. They were always pretty consistent, but the wound cavity is smaller than any of the match bullets I have had experience with. If you are staying with the 7 Rm, You could use the 120 gr. Barnes This will give you less recoil without changing rifles. I have seen that bullet and the 110 gr. in 270 used without any issues on elk out to 600 yds or so. In my experience lighter mono's work better than heavy ones. You get higher velocity, and plenty of penetration. I haven't seen much difference in exit wound diameter between the light and the heavy mono's.
We have been shooting elk with 115 Dtacs the last couple years, and they are dramatically more effective than any mono's I have seen in person.

As someone who has killed and been apart of a lot of kills with a Tikka 7 rem Mag over the last 6-7 years (as in around 30 big game animals) the scenar bullets - specifically the 150 grain variety are absolute bone crushers and killers. They also seem very easy to load for. If you can get them where your at, I would take a look.

If you’re wanting to shoot more and get proficient at longer ranges, then a smaller caliber is certainly a great investment. Depending on your ammo choice, you could assemble a new tikka for the equivalent of say 400ish 7mag rounds.
I built a 6.5cm last year and have no regrets, now that we’re .22 cal legal I’ll be upgrading my .223 as well.
If you’re wanting to try some different bullets, prophet, nechako and reliable gun usually have a pretty good selection.
In 7mag I’ve had good luck with the scirocco’s and trophy bonds for harder bullets. Then sst’s or some 168 hybrid hunters on the more explosive side.
The Eldx’s this year out of a 7prc were quite aggressive 😂, same for the 6.5 Eldm’s
