What do you guys think about ASAT camo for hunting in Timber in Norh Idaho as well as High Alpine Hunting? Is the contract too great?

Looking for some camo but limited budget means I'll likely only buy one set of camo at this time and would like to make the most of it. I've worn sitka open country the last 7-8 years but need to replace a few items and would like to pick up some more Merino.

ASAT does a great job breaking up your outline which I feel is the most important aspect of camo. Other camo is easier on the eyes but in the eyes of an animal ASAT should work great

ASAT is the best or one of the best camos for any terrain. I have had some crazy experiences in ASAT. It will treat you well!

Just remember that ungulates see in black and white basically and the large pattern of ASAT breaks up your outline well. The colors and small patterns that most camo is made up of are meant to please the human eye and sell clothes not hide you from animals. ASAT works .

I have used ASAT almost exclusively this year in everything from thick leafy, green brush to bare rock on a MT mtn goat quest. Also in pine/fir forests, sage country, and river bottoms. I really believe it is the best at concealing and breaking up the human form in varying terrain. If I was going to buy only one pattern it would be ASAT.

My buddies and I take pictures of each other randomly as we hunt from varying unknown distances just to compare different camo. To my eye, ASAT and Kryptek Highlander are the most versatile. After that, my eye likes max 1, but that's because of the broad color scheme, I am sure. It still looks like a blob at long distance.

ASAT is my favorite camo for hunting game. That being said, camo does two basic things, it breaks up the human outline or it blends you into your surroundings. If you are hunting man, you need to blend in. If you are hunting game ASAT delivers what they say they deliver. If you do not see more game wearing their camo, they will buy it back. My first year using ASAT, I came within 30 yards of both deer and coyote, they just stared at me. It was dumbfounding. When have you seen a coyote sit in one place for more that 2 to 3 minutes, the bugger was trying to figure out what the hell I was, just starring, could not make out that I was a human. After the coyote encounter I was sold, and the only other camo I would consider is Predator Camouflage.

I got my kids the ASAT clothing and I really love the pattern. I am picking up a leafy suit for myself as I often find myself wandering into public grounds and seem to end up farther back in then the rest of willing to carry their climbers. I even painted my old 1985 Honda Big Red ATV with aftermarket gas tank and fenders into a similar pattern and love it! You know, when I can find it.

ASAT is great but their clothes are not. They are supposed to update the line for 2015 and I'm very interested to see what they come up with. Right now I would say First Light is your best choice for ASAT.

Thanks guys. I think you've confirmed my thoughts. I'm going to pick up some first lite llano and labrador when they have them in stock again. Might also get the puffy, we'll see.

I'm curious why you need a wardrobe of the stuff when the ASAT leafy suit can be worn over any clothing in any temperature.

I've quit buying hunting/camo clothing unless it has other specific features I want. I've got two basic leafy suits. One ASAT and the other a basic treestand camo. They work great.

I tried wearing a leafy suit hunting elk. All that happens is it gets ripped off your body while you stalk and hike. Leafy suits are for tree stand and blind hunting, not spot and stalk like you do here in the west
