As a Juror, would you vote to convict someone that killed a wolf?

That father was taking video of the shot when he told his son to shoot at that wet grizzly (looked black).

Perhaps an unfair judge at sentenc8ng. And the dad pled guilty, right? And then was shocked at sentencing stage?

The video allowed everyone to see exactly what dad saw.

I will not be recording video when I shoot at large coyotes.

my thoughts where, self reported, clearly an accident supported by film, and yet got max fine..

Thats my issue, he should of got a warning at most.

Who is going to ask for a jury trial for a misdemeanor?? The legal fees would be way way more than the fine for killing a wolf.

Agree. And he would've gotten off if father wasn't so silly as to take and keep video of the shot.

Judge had to fine him because the video showed how obvious it was that it was a grizzly. At that exact moment.

With no video, who knows what the lighting and site picture looked like?

When I witnessed a street thug who was injured while breaking into a local business win a $2,000,000 law suit because the jury was not allowed to know that he was committing a serious crime when injured... well I have not been selected for JD since.

I refuse to indict or find somebody innocent when the legal system is rigged to where I cannot discover all the facts.

I tell them this and that I would recuse myself from voting guilty or not guilty due to the incompetence/ineptness of our broken judicial system.

There are laws and then there are ethics. Sometimes the two dont align. And in this fruit cake day and age i lean toward ethics instead of unreasonable laws in some cases.

As already mentioned, doubt I would clear jury selection, but if I did It would be a not guilty in my case.

In the case of Calirado, they will find out soon enough that wolves will need to be managed in much the same way as coyotes.
But they will not do it. Once an animal achieves "protected status" they seldom are managed to keep populations in check again... especially by methods of hunting. The libs just get a biased judge to keep moving the goal posts.

Most animals that have ever been taken off the ESA list were removed because they actually went extinct. All still hold some form of protection.

as a citizen you are obligated to be an impartial juror and if not there is no Justice.
this was proven down south with black people being murdered and the murderers not being convicted in state court so then the Congress Legislated federal murder laws.
i Believe in the Justice System despite how flawed it is cuz without it chaos.
I would convict if supported by evidence.
Looking at how Black Americans were treated is a two way street, the same jurors that looked the other way for murder would have jumped at the chance to convict on some ridiculous charge like using the wrong bathroom or sitting on the wrong part of the bus. This is where some laws, although they are laws have no justice… and that is where your argument falls apart…

Do a google search of most rediculous laws and tell me you agree with ALL of them.

Heck I read yesterday that in New York you will be fined for letting your car idle without being in it. HOWEVER, if you have remote start it does not apply??? They say its to reduce motor vehicle theft...but It is NOT lawmakers job to tell me when I can and cannot idle my vehicle unattended.

As with wolves, the people who made the law DO NOT know anything about wildlife biology or management, so their law does not mean much to me.

I Digress.....
It`s irrelevant if I (or anyone else for that matter ) agree with ALL of them or not. If they are law, then one has to expect consequences ( well, except perhaps for our laws pertaining to immigration ) for either breaking said laws or ignoring them.

I know how hard it is to prove a case like that beyond a reasonable doubt. If the suspect follows a few basic rules I couldn’t vote guilty.

Turn your phone off.
Don’t make any statements.
Don’t take any pictures or tell anyone about the coyote you killed.
