Arrow weight tolerance

Just fletched up some new arrows. Same Axis 5mm 300 spine as always, same length. Only difference is they no longer sell the brass inserts so I went with the stainless. Weighed all components and my final arrow weight is 6-7 grains heavier. At Hunting distances they impact the same but will gradually hit lower past about 70.
What are your tolerances for your arrows? Honestly past 70 that difference is not really noticeable as in not that good but my OCD knows they’re heavier!!

That small of a weight discrepancy will not have any noticeable effect in practice. If it bothers you, adding one of these washers behind the point/head on the lighter arrows would make up most of the difference.
Exactly,

Randy Ulmer had some commentary on this years ago. He claimed the avg archer cannot discern 25g in arrow weight difference if I recall correctly. I think he said that under 10g he couldn't tell the difference even shooting those very long shots he takes.

I never tested his theory.

When I was shooting a lot and logging groups I kept my arrows within 3g....though it was the spine inconsistency that you see right away...not a tiny bit of arrow weight.

If you really want to dial in your arrows its worth numbering your arrows and logging the groups to find spine inconsistencies.

The issue with the weight difference is that my other 2dozen or so arrows are 7 grains lighter. I shoot a lot of 3D at my local course to prepare for hunting season and there are several shots at 70 to 113 yards. So I try to keep all my arrows to within 3 grains, yes I’m picky and I definitely don’t want a heavier arrow. It just seemed odd that the same arrow would be that much heavier than the last several dozen.

It doesn't take much to come up with 6-7 grains. There are generally weight differences in every component: shafts, inserts, vanes, nocks, amount of glue/epoxy used, points, BH's, etc.

Years ago, the first time I shot BH's back to back I was shooting identical arrows at 60 yards with a 125 and a 100. I shot the 100 second and ruined the first arrow with it. I figured 25gr lighter that it would impact lower than the 125. And it did, just a little bit. But not enough to completely clear the first arrow.
