30” Draw Length
70 pound Elite Synergy

I have heard great things about the Easton Axis 5mm arrows. Their chart recommends a 260 spine for my setup.

Playing around in Pinwheel gives me the image shown.

125g broadhead
50g insert
32” arrow

Is that arrow way too heavy and therefore slow? Is that just what a balanced arrow, properly stiff arrow looks like for a 30” draw?

That’s a long arrow. I would cut it down a little to help with straightness and stiffen it up a tiny bit. That’ll also bring the weight down a little.

You could most likely shoot a 29" arrow. My DL is 29 plus some and carbon to carbon is 28".

U could do 300 probably, but a 250 might work. Depends on the bow too.

That is a LONG arrow. If I were you I'd use a 300 and cut it down to just in front of your rest. I have a 32 1/2" draw and shoot 29.5-30" arrows. I shoot 300's, 250's and 200's at 75lbs and they'll all tune up well. Some of those 300's even have 75gr HIT's in them.

Like stated that arrow is going to be pretty long. Draw length is actually measured from the throat of the grip at full draw, then add 1 3/4. So if it's a 30" draw length your 32" arrow is probably going to be more than 2" past the front of your riser. Conservatively you can probably get away with a 29.5" arrow. If you want to make sure your broadhead is well in front of your hand even a 31" arrow will probably be plenty.

Only reason I'm saying this is if you are concerned about the TAW. Get it shorter and you will be in lighter spine territory and thus a little bit lighter.

That arrow isn't way too heavy, but I wouldn't care to be that heavy personally. I'd shoot for 500 with 30" draw. 260 fps if accurate is about as slow as I would want to be.

I have a 30" draw and cut my Axis arrows to 28.375 inches. This easily clears my rest even with 1 inch Impact Collars. I shoot 300 spine Axis with my 70 lb bow and 260 spine Axis with my 75 lb bow, both with Iron Will 125 grain heads, 10 or 25 grain Impact Collars, and 25 grain HITS. I get total arrow weights of 500, 515, 530, & 545 with these combinations. I'm very happy with the performance of these setups on animals.

Awesome, thanks guys. I’ll have to measure to make it exact but with a 29” arrow, 16 insert and a 125 head im here:

Is that pinwheel SW free? I shoot 29.5 DL hoyt at 70 lbs currently. I run 340 spine fmj at 29.5 for years here in IA, cant remember shooting anything past 25 yards. Been practicing for antelope hunt out to 80 and wondering if that spine might not be helping my accuracy. I originally just chalked it up to poor form but the charts show me right on the edge. Curious you experts thoughts? I was considering knocking arrow to 28, maybe also drop to 300?

What cam system? Which model Hoyt? If a turbo model they really seem to push the spine pretty hard, in my experience.

I'd probably cut your shafts down and call it good. Might not need to do that, but generally not too much wrong with being stiff on a compound for broadheads. Probably have enough length that you could cut behind your currently installed inserts and still be well ahead of your rest.

Really need to let the bow show you what it needs. About the easiest thing is to see what broadheads are doing in relation to your field points

I shoot rage mechanicals and they have always matched up perfectly with fieldpoints. Ill chop a few down behind the insert and see how the groups look. Thanks for the feedback.
