Arrow nock low, problem?

I bought a bow off of archery talk 4 years ago. I have taken it into my local bow shop for new strings and module and arrow tuning. The shop isn’t the most reliable in my opinion but they are the only Hoyt dealer close to me. I have shot 2 deer with it, 20 and 50 yds. As I’m learning more about archery and trying to do things myself I’m noticing the arrow is nock low. Does that raise a concern for anyone who knows more about bow set up? I always thought you wanted to be level or a smidge nock high.

Looks to me that the rest is too high as your arrow is well above the berger hole. I could be wrong but was always told it should be level with it

Arrow through the Berger hole. You can move the rest down to the lower hole on the mount. Should put you where it belongs. You'll have to move the nocking point and D loop down as well.

Nothing is set in stone about where a bow will tune. I have some that tune nock low. That being said from your picture it looks like it probably wasn't setup right from the jump. Your arrow looks 3/8 high of the Berger hole. That arrow should be running center of the Berger, then make slight tuning adjustments.

Are you shooting bareshafts or broadheads out of it? What are they doing?

I’m shouting bare shafts and fletched arrows right now. The fletched arrows group really well (touching or 3” groups at 25 yards, that’s about my accuracy range right now) the bare shafts I don’t remember what they do I will go shoot some and post a picture

Make sure you have a flight and grouping issue with bare shafts, paper tuning, or with fixed blade broadheads compared to field points before you start changing things.

I had a couple Hoyts that wanted to tune just like that, and it always bothered me, but I could still stack bare shafts, field points, and broadheads. And that's with having access to a press, draw board, twisting cables, etc.

Like others said check your arrow rest to make sure it’s not too high and then go from there.

Here’s a group from this morning. Top view and side of fletched and bare shafts at 25 yds. Do I need to be closer when checking them like this or further than 25?

Here are a couple of pictures of the rest, it’s mounted in the Berger hole, but adjusted above it. If it were you guys would you go back to square 1 and re adjust everything? I’m half tempted to do that just to get experience, but my lack of knowledge on this stuff makes me nervous I’m gonna mess something up.

That video doesn't tell the whole story, and you can't take that advice in isolation because you also have to worry about things like vertical nock travel, and adjustments made to buss/control cables. Some bows will tune nock high, others nock level, and more rarely nock low.

As Brendan said I'd lower your rest a little. Mark where it is now. Then adjust it down maybe only a 1/32". At 25 yards you should have your bareshafts grouping right with the fletched. That's really not bad, better than what I thought it would be.

Thanks guys I will Mark the rest then make those adjustments when I get home and post.

Hey guys so I adjusted my rest to where it was level, and the first 3 pictures shows how that did. That was the best group out of 5 groups shot, so I moved it half way between the starting point (nock low) and level and shot again and those are the last two pictures.

min going to adjust it back to level and shoot some more, and also mess with tip weight to see if that changes anything.

Seems a little backwards. Your bareshafts were high to start, then even when you set it level, then are low when you were halfway between where you started and level? Looks like you need to bump your rest a fuzz to the right of you can't yoke tune or shim your cams. I'd do it with the yokes, but you need a press for that. Might get them together with your rest. Don't make multiple adjustments at once.

Keep notes of what you do and what happens. Make sure you are getting consistent results. A little difference in grip or even your anchor arm can make big changes.

Ultimately I'd be more concerned about where your broadheads hit in relation to your field points. That's the most important part of it all to me with a hunting bow.

Thanks billy goat! That’s good advice, I’m working on my grip and anchor trying to be consistent.
I measured last night from the point where my rest was adjusted to where it was level was 3/16”. That seemed pretty far off

How much would point weight change what I’m seeing? I’m shooting 125’s right now.

set up, 300 spine outlaws, cut at 28.5” with 4 max stealths, 7” wrap, and a 42 gr brass insert shooting 70 lbs with 28” draw

Point weight is going to effect the dynamic spine. Shouldn't have a thing to do with high low, but can alter your left right. Generally weak spine will put you right, stiff spine to the left. I don't think your far off on your spine tho.

What bow? Hoyt turbos tend to be harder on the spine than others.
