Question for you guys, I'm trying to figure out how much an increase of elevation may affect the point of impact of an arrow. I shot a bull last week and I can't tell if I hit him high because he may have taken a step or two in my direction after I ranged him or if the elevation may have caused my arrow to end up being higher. I live and sight in at 4400 feet, when i was at 7700 feet i double checked and was good to go, but I took my kill shot at 11,600 feet. Shot distance was 60 yards at my last range point and I probably ended up hitting about 6 inches higher than I aimed at. I just can't keep from thinking if it was the elevation or if I didn't notice him get a hair closer.

Thanks guys

Elevation wasn't the issue. I controlled conditions, a target archer might be able to tell a difference, but for hunting any difference it makes will be inside the margin of error. I live at 374 feet above sea level, hunt at 6,000-10,000 feet and when I check my bow at 80 yards between elevations (making sure things didn't get bumped or loosened in transport) point of impact is the same.

Won't have that much of an impact. There isn't a measurable change for me and my group above 10,000 feet. Not a lot of margin for error at 60 yards. Pin float can change your point of impact 6 inches.
